K-8 Physical Education Teacher – Temporary position for SY 2017-2018

Assets School is seeking a full-time physical education teacher. This position is temporary, starting now and running through the remainder of the 2017-2018 school year.  The position requires planning and teaching developmentally appropriate lessons for physical education classes, kindergarten-eighth grade. There are also supervisory duties such as lunch and recess.

Candidates must be passionate about learning and able to differentiate curriculum for the diverse learning needs of students who are gifted and/or have learning differences.  The ability to successfully collaborate with other teachers and effectively communicate is essential. Experience with our student population is preferred, but an interest and willingness to learn is also welcomed.

After School Care Leaders
After School Leaders plan activities and supervise students in grades K-8.  Activities can include homework support, free play on the playground, organized sports and games, art projects, cooking projects and computer games.  Typical hours are from 2:45pm to 5:30 or 6:00pm.  The exception is Wednesday, when After Care starts at 1:25pm.  After School Care follows the school calendar.  There are also special school events that After School Care Leaders provide childcare for.  Candidates must demonstrate a passion for working with children and an understanding of developmental needs.  Candidates must be able to embody the school’s culture in the after school program, communicate effectively with parents and collaborate with colleagues.

Assets School is seeking a part-time librarian (mornings).  MLS or MLIS school library-media certification and assistive technology preferred.  Maintains collection of books, serial publications, audiovisual and other material.  Keeps abreast of current literature and purchases books for library and classrooms.  Work with teachers and students to support curriculum.
