Halloween may be right around the corner, but October is home to something much less frightening--Dyslexia Awarness Month! To commence the time, Assets school is hosting its annual Dyslexia Awarness Resoruce Fair on October 7, 2017 right here at our lower school campus.

This is a free event open to any and all, but be sure to snag your tickets quickly as we do have limited space. This fair is designed to give you a space to familiarize yourself with learning differences, and see that they really aren't the scariest things in the world!

Working in conjuction with the International Dyslexia Assoaction, we will provide panel discussions, simulations, and activities chronicling what life with Dyslexia is like. We can't wait to see you there!

Remember, great minds don't think, or learn, alike!

As you may be aware, our very own and beloved Coach Carey has been diagnosed with Leukemia. There are several types of leukemia and his is particularly aggressive. He has been hospitalized since late August, though he's received some encouraging updates within the last couple days and hopes to be discharged soon. After this, his treatment plan will require him to relocate to the mainland for several months to undergo specialized treatment and observation.

Coach Carey has been an integral part of our community, having given so much time, energy, and passion to students, faculty, and friends alike. It only seemed right that we find a way to give back to him. Located in the main offices of both campuses, we have our Coins for Coach Carey jugs. Just this morning, a student from the K-8 campus donated over $60 in rolled pennies, nickels, and dimes!

The Assets Parent 'Ohana has set up an account for Coach Carey at FHB. This campaign will be managed by our APO. Carey will receive 100% of the funds contributed to this account. You may send cash or make checks out to "Friends of Carey G.P. Won" and deliver them to the Assets K-8 campus main office. Please note that this donation is not tax deductible.

One of Coach Carey's friends has set up a GoFundMe page: www.gofundme.com/carey-wons-treatment-fund (not affiliated with Assets School).

From all of us at Assets, we wish you the best and speediest recovery, Coach Carey! We're all here for you!
