When you come and visit us (and we hope you do), you will enter a campus that is rich with student art, well resourced, and vibrant with the kind of energy that all schools of excellence possess.
The Lower & Middle School Program embraces an instructional philosophy that includes small class sizes, well-trained teachers, involved counselors and a broad yet integrated curriculum. Dedicated resource teachers in art, music, computer, physical education and performing arts expand the classroom curriculum and work in partnership with classroom teachers to strengthen students’ expressive language skills and reinforce substantive knowledge.
Visitors are taken by the confidence and cheer that our students exude, the purposeful engagement of students in academics and the evidence of learning that abounds in classrooms and hallways. They are impressed by our resource classes and the variety of enrichment activities (elective units) that are available to students at the end of the school day: rocketry, dance, flight simulation, to name just a few.
Assets is lauded by local and national education specialists for our teachers’ training in language instruction methodologies, and the work of the curriculum specialists who support teachers and students. In fact, our students consistently name caring teachers who understand the way they learn as their favorite thing about Assets School. Whether they are gifted, dyslexic or both (twice exceptional), students talk about the time teachers take to support and challenge them.
Throughout the year, students in the Lower and Middle School Program can pursue interests through our after school program, which is offered twice a year, for eight weeks. Chess club, Lego League, choir, dance, and art, have been among the activities offered.
Our innovative, multi-sensory program consists of an 8:1 student-to-teacher ratio, solid instruction using research-based methodologies, a talented and well-trained faculty and experienced school counselors, which combine to provide the “learning that transforms lives” that has been the hallmark of an Assets School education for over 50 years.st
